Busy Bee

So I have been a busy bee over here in Weekend File land and I wanted to share some links with you guys! But first... I promised a round up from the 7 Days, 7 Ways challenge and here it is!

If you weren't following along, I styled 1 button up 7 different ways over the course of 7 days. It was a fun challenge and I liked all the ways I managed to wear the top. Looking back, I think that #3 and #5 were my favorite. Which were your favorites?

Click here to see the looks in their entirety.

Now on to the fun stuff! My bloggy buddy Dani was kind enough to feature me on her blog last week and I did a little Q&A with her about my personal style. You can check that out right here.

Then the lovely Elaine so kindly let me guest blog on Clothed Much where I talked about mixing up your wardrobe and extending the life of your summer clothes into the fall/winter months. It was a fun post with some fun tips, and you can check that one out here!

And lastly, (see I told you I have been busy!), the gals over at Handbag Heaven have a new Style  Guide full of awesome bloggers showing off some of their great handbags and I was lucky enough to be one of them! You can check out the Style Guide (and take a Style Quiz!) right here!

Enjoy your weekends everyone! We will finally be getting our kitchen delivered and finishing up some painting. Hopefully I can also come up with a fun costume for Monday, too!
Do you have any fun plans? What are you guys dressing up as?

Yellow House: Progress

I have been looking forward to this post for awhile now! I showed you the exterior of the house a few weeks ago here, and if you missed it go check it out so I can wow you with what's to come! This is how we have been spending all of our free time lately and I am really proud of how the house has come so far...

Roof.
The roof of this house was in awful shape and it was one of the things we had to address ASAP.
Roofers working away removing all of the damage and replacing beams and boards. Notice in the first photo how the roof was pretty much rotten underneath the shingles!

Big difference! The weird carpet is gone as is the entire old patio cover! So much more spacious and clean looking in the back now!

Complete! A new grey roof that looks much more modern and clean!

Termite.
Along with the roof, the entire house had termite damage. We had to have the subterranean area around the house injected with some barrier to keep them from coming back, and we had to put one of those lovely circus tents on!
I came by to pose in front of my huge eyesore of a house and our lovely Termite Terry banner. Pleased to say we are termite free now!

Garage.
The existing garage on the home was old. The kind you lift up. Well, the kind you should be able to lift up but I physically couldn't do it! It was so heavy and ugly it had to go!
I wanted simple, long panels and undecorated windows and this garage was perfect! It made a HUGE impact on the front of the home. And all I have to do is press a button.

Yardwork.
This house had been neglected so it needed a lot of love in the front, and it was a lot harder then we thought it would be to get it into shape!
Working on removing all of the overgrown shrubs was hard! Apparently it took a jeep and some chains to remove the roots of most (the boys idea... not mine!).

Yard is cleaned up, shutters were pulled off the house, and we added electrical so we could install lights on either side of the garage.

Pretty big improvement (so far!) from this photo, huh?

Snowflaked

Sweater- Forever 21
Shirt- Cotton On
Jeans- Old Navy
Boots- Forever 21
Bag- Forever 21
Watch- Fossil
Sunglasses- Kate Spade
Necklace- Topshop

This is one of those sweaters that make you squeal when you see it, then you feel even more happy when you put it on. It is fitted, but casual. It is grey outside with an inverted brown print on the inside. And oh, its covered in snowflakes. I love it! It was the perfect saturday morning outfit. We went and got lattes... iced venti soy latte for me, if you were wondering.

We headed to Ikea. It was one of the most glorious trips to Ikea I have ever had. We went to go finalize our kitchen plan but we never even made it upstairs. We found our stove in the As-Is section for 50% off. And it fit in the back of a Volkswagen hatchback. Heck yea!

Then as I was chatting with my new best friend Frank, who runs the As-Is section, I spotted it. My dream couch, the Karlstad. I have been dreaming of owning this couch forever and I found it for sale (not just any sale, like half price!). I just had to find a truck to take it home. And I did!!! And I cannot wait to set it up when all of the construction is done!

So moral of the story is, Ikea rules. Always check the As-Is section first. Then get a frozen yogurt and you will be a happy camper!

A Fall Walk

Last Thursday was a beautiful, quintessential fall afternoon.
Bright sun, crisp air, crunchy leaves on the ground... it was the perfect time to grab the puppy and head outside for a long walk around the hood. I took my camera along for some quick snaps.

New Old Navy sweater that is perfect for fall weather.

He loves getting outside in the sunshine and feeling the wind on his little face.
He will just sit in the grass and stare off into space for hours if you let him!

These slip on oxfords from Payless are so comfortable and so cute.
Quickly becoming a staple in my wardrobe when I want something casual to wear.

True Cockapoo profile.
And see what I mean! He just stares and watches the birds, listens to the rustling of trees. He loves it.

Our un-carved pumpkin sits on our window sill with my potted succulents.

Walking along our neighborhood.

'H' Necklace from Anthropologie, nails are NYC Sidewalkers.
A cute little pumpkin that sits by our kitchen window.

I still have some time to take more Sponsors for the End of the Year sale. Large ads are sold out but small and medium remain, check out this post if you are interested!

Pop of Pink

October is breast cancer awareness month. What a good time to add a little pop of pink in your wardrobe and show a little support for a great cause! Here are some of my favorite pink picks to brighten up any day...

1. Slim fit capri pants in the sweetest shade of pink. Imagine all the color blocking options!

2. A giant cocktail ring with a sparkly pink gem for a great price.

3. A fall inspired diamond print on a sweet pink sweater. This could be dressed up or down for a casual or sophisticated night look.

4. Add a little glamour to your makeup routine with these glam pink and gold brushes.

5. A dusty pink and brown handbag with gold accents. A perfect pairing of color, texture and hardware.

6. Kick it up a notch with this neon Cambridge Satchel!

7. A great skinny jean in a shocking pink. Perfect for a night out on the town with some towering black heels.

8. A sweet lacy dress in the sweetest shade of light pink. Perfect for summer with sandals or the winter with black boots and a blazer.

9. Go big and bold and add a Pink Peacoat. I promise those blustery winter days will be a little more fun if you are sporting this!

10. Essie offers countless pink options. Here is just one of my favorite pink options.

11. Decorate your house with a hot pink Kate Spade vase.

12. Hunter Wellies. Still perfect and this time in pink. Think of these with the grey sock insert for those colder days.

13. And if you feel like getting fancy, the perfect pink heel tied with a bow!

In the Dark

Jacket- LC Lauren Conrad
Dress- Kohl's
Leggings- Target
Boots- Old Navy
Bag- Forever 21
Necklace- Nordstrom

I guess I didnt pay much attention in 'Fashion Blogging 101' because I thought it would work perfectly to wear an all black outfit and go take photos around 8pm. Um, no. But while we were waiting our 45 minutes for a table at the Olive Garden, instead of enjoying a jug of wine and those buttery breadsticks I dragged boyfriend towards the brightest lights I could see. Enter a mall marking garage. To the left was a family with like 4 kids hanging out and over to the right were some teens making out by their car but you know, I make it happen. Next time it would probably be easier to wear all white, but I heard thats a big no no until next year. Oh well... I still give myself a solid B for creativity. And those breadsticks were an A+!

Circles and Scribbles

Sweater- Forever 21
Shirt- Forever 21
Belt- Forever 21
Jeans- Old Navy
Boots- Forever 21
Bag- Urban Outfitters
Sunglasses- Kate Spade

This wall is actually in our new backyard. When I first saw it, I thought it would be incredible to put twinkle lights on, or grow some climbing flowers on. I just loved the deco, intertwined circles. I still love it. But after having to replace the electrical panel to the left of this wall, the wall has begun to lean. And move away from the house. To the point where everyone is saying it might not be structurally sound and I am so sad! I need to come up with a way to save and preserve this wall!

As for the outfit, I have worn something similar before but this isn't one of my favorites. It got the job done and I managed to photograph it, so you get to see it. But to be honest, I wore the jeans the day before and the pocket of this purse doesn't zip but you know what? Keeping it real! Now, any ideas for this wall??

Yellow House Before: Inside

As you all know we bought a 1956 fixer upper and are working on the renovations. I already showed you what the outside of the home and yard looked like and today I am going to show you what the interior looked like up until a week or so ago!

The main living room as shot from the front door. Excuse my beach chairs and vacuum, this is where we sit and take a load off from working!

The sun washed this photo out and I didnt get a better one, but this is taken from the living room, behind the beach chairs facing the dining room. I love that it is really open.

Standing in the middle of the dining room. Check out our original hardwood floors! I cant wait to polish these babies, they are gorgeous. And paint that ugly brown (and even uglier red!). Behind that partition is the galley kitchen.

This is the one eyesore in the house I don't know what to do with! This fireplace is not my style at all, but I just don't have any idea how to get all of that ugly river rock off! For the time being, we might paint it and just try to pretend it isn't there! Off to the left is the sliding door to the backyard.

Excuse our mess! This is the outdated, ugly, disgusting kitchen.

Opposite side of the kitchen. That door is right next to the sliding door, only it doesn't open at all... how weird!

Check out the old fashioned cabinets and the super fancy scalloping detail. Inside they are even worse with years of grime and mismatched contact paper.

Bedroom 1, which is the smallest of the rooms will be the office. It has a pretty decent size closet and a little built in, with windows facing the front of the house on the entire wall behind me.

Bedroom 2, was clearly a kids room and I am dreading painting this red wall and blue stripe. This room is going to be used as our guest room/ wardrobe room.

Our bedroom! It was painted an ugly pea green which we already replaced with this nice, fresh white. This was before we tore out the closet, painted it and touched up the window. Speaking of the closet... it is small!

Another shot of the room. It actually has a pretty square shape, but then an extra added space when walking towards the bathroom and door. Its small, but it will serve its purpose just fine!

And last but not least, the ugly garage they left behind. To the right in the back is a weird cedar lined closet which I guess is where I will be keeping all of my fur coats and dead bodies. Kidding, I think we are ripping it out along with everything else and doing inclosed cabinets along each wall.
