Last month I happened to come across this dress on the clearance rack at Target for around $15. I am a super fan of the high-low skirt trend, and I thought the print was perfect (hello, chevron stripes are my fave!) and the colors were so perfectly summery! Since it is an easy cotton dress, paired with a denim jacket and some sandals, it is the perfect dress for warm, sunshiny days.
On a different note, I now work at Anthropologie as I announced a few weeks ago. I have never, ever had a job where I could just wear whatever I wanted. I thought that would be exciting and fun, but it is proving to be somewhat stressful! I think the options are too endless so I end up being undeciscive and wasting so much time in the mornings getting ready! Do you guys have any tips or tricks for planning outfits or getting ready in the mornings? Anything that works the best? Anything I should avoid doing to make it easier? Im all ears!
PS- I also want to take a moment to thank ALL of my followers new and old for being so sweet and supporting my little blog here. I have gotten many new followers lately so I just want to say hello and let you know I noticed you, and I am so happy to have you following along! Say hello and make sure to introduce yourselves. I love connecting and finding new to me blogs to read!
I haven't been able to wear whatever I want for quite some time so I'm not sure if I'll be of much help (all business professional here except for business casual Friday).
ReplyDeleteSometimes I plan outfits the night before and scrap them if I wake up and my mood has me in the mood to wear something else.
One thing that does help me, focusing on one piece and then building the outfit around it. If I'm totally blanking I check Lookbook/WhoWhatWear/Atlantic Pacific (though I can't emulate the caliber of her wardrobe) for inspiration :)
Yes the night before for sure makes the day off less stressful! I am thinking of planning out a few outfits at a time then going through those for the week. But I too become afraid I will have changed my mind by the time it comes to get ready!!
DeleteThat's hard. It's bad enough trying to put an outfit together when it's NOT work. And by the way, Target's clearance rack has rocked lately!
ReplyDeleteI am a fairly new follower...so nice of you to acknowledge newbies. Hope you have a great week!

Thanks for following I really do appreciate it! And I agree, I got some adorable shorts I need to remember to wear!!
Deleteooo love that dress!!
ReplyDeleteI just started following this weekend and so far I am loving your blog! Super cute dress :)
ReplyDeleteI love that dress. I was going to ask when you got it before I read the post, and I got a little sad that I couldn't just click over and order it. You always have the best clothes from the least expensive places, and I always think of you and wish you were with me when i'm shopping in F21. I'm getting my second StitchFix today, too, so I'm hoping it's a good one. How fun about Anthropologie. I used to work at J.Crew, and it was really stressful because they made us wear their clothes one season in advance of what we were currently experiencing, and I think I ended up spending more than I made (weekend job) trying to own what I was supposed to be wearing there. Have fun, though. I bet anthro is a little more laid back. They have more in their inventory.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Megan thats so sweet! I am just a normal girl, normal budget and I shop that way. I guess I just find the pieces that just look a little more well made or special, and go for those!
DeleteThat dress is such a score--I love the print and fun hemline! Congrats on the new job! I'm one of those type A "need to plan" sort of people, so I like to plan my outfits the night before so I'm not rushing around in the morning. And I rely on Pinterest for those staring-at-my-clost-with-no-ideas moments, which happen to me fairly often :)
ReplyDeletePinterest is a good idea. I usually think of an item or something and build an outfit around that so I kinda have an idea in the mornings. Its tough though!!
DeleteYou look amazing and I love your dress!
ReplyDeleteAww your sweet, thanks!
DeleteSo cute! Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress Hayley! I love even more that you got it at Target on clearance :). I usually tell my husband what I will be wearing right before bed, it helps me sort it out and then he always throws his 2 cents in! Ha! Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteThats a good idea, but I think my boyfriend would suggest things like "knee high boots" and "mini skirts" haha! What he likes is sometimes a bit, uh, interesting. HAHA!
DeleteI can't believe this is from Target! So cute! I saw an almost identical (and not even as cute) one on Modcloth for a bazillion $! Haha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE your "h" pin - what a cute touch! :)
Yes, specifically the one at Irvine Spectrum and I never, ever saw it at any other Targets. Check there maybe if you happen to be in the area!
DeleteLove the Target dress find and Love Anthropologie, although Target is more my budget right now with 2 college kids and a HS junior.
ReplyDeleteJust started following your blog; very cute and practical clothing, right down my alley ;-)
Thank you!! I agree about Anthro, the only reason its in my price range now is because of the great employee perks!
DeleteYou look totally adorable! Love the chevron print and the cute little "H" on your jacket.

Thank you, I am loving the hi-lo trend. I love how it kinda blows back behind you in the wind. So pretty!
DeleteI love your blog! You have adorable style, and this chevron dress is gorgeous! Looking forward to following along!
ReplyDeleteHappy to have you! And thank you so much!
Delete"Too many options is my prison!" .... I cannot remember where I heard this long ago, but it IS the reason I blankly stare into my closet for what seems an eternity. I too, work at a high-end fashion boutique. We sell Michael Stars tees all the way to Alice & Olivia/Nanette Lapore, etc. So, jeans and a tee are just as OK as a sequin skirt. Again, too many options! ha
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned putting several options together at a time. When I take the time to do this, my mornings go much smoother. I like to snap a pic of outfits on my phone to remember how I styled them. (so I remember when in a time crunch) I need to do that again now that it's getting hot outside.
Also....I think those that can seamlessly blend Target sale rack with high-end things have the best styling ability. Good denim, good accessories, good bag = you can pull any F21 top or dress off!
All so true Jennifer! Yes at anthro, we can look like we are going on a fancy date, or just wear jeans and flats, so it is hard to gauge how I want to look. I at least want to try and mix it up a bit each day!
DeleteSuch a pretty dress...love that you kept the pairing simple. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteThe more chevron patterns I see, the more I love the print. This is a great summer dress, and congrats on your new job!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing outfit!! :D Thanks for sharing! Lovely just lovely! I am now following you vis the link up from Life on LeRoy. :D Stop by sometime! :D
