Checking In

Washed Button Down- Anthropologie
Necklace- Anthropologie
Striped Maxi- Target
Tan Boots- Sam Edelman "Petty"

I thought this look was too cute not to share, but these aren't the greatest of photos. Between my Hot Pocket warming in the microwave and running over to Starbucks for a latte on my lunch break I managed to squeeze in some quick outfit shots in the fitting room. I really loved this casual look, and even though I was in a longer skirt and rolled sleeves, I still felt pretty put together, springy and light.

I have to admit to you all, I caved and bought something. A sweater. When you see it you will understand. But I have decided... not shopping is hard! Especially in my environment. I have to figure out a way to keep the cost down, but still be able to get something every now and then. A few good suggestions came in on my last post on the subject and I really loved the idea of only using money you make on Ebay or Poshmark from selling your items to treat yourself to new ones. That is kinda like Fashion Recycling!

I hope you all have a lovely Valentines Day tomorrow! I am working all day (and possibly into the evening) and Geoff leaves for Japan early Friday morning, so all I asked for was some romantical chicken nachos from Rubio's! Sounds sooo good!

You still have a few days to enter to win your very own Olive & Piper XO Necklace as well!

  1. Ha, oh now you caved? Not shopping is certainly hard. Perhaps you can do something like Keira with A Pretty Penny and do a fashion budget. Learn about hers here: http://aprettypennyblog.com/2012/10/22/when-is-enough-actually-er-enough/

  7. Not shopping is so much harder then it should be. I was inspired by your post to no shop in February (I mean it's the shortest month, I should be able to make it) but I'm starting to waiver. I'm also trying to push myself to buy more "investment" pieces, and not just stuff because I like it that minute. But let's be real, sometimes you just need something shiny and new. :)

    1. Katie... I waivered and felt bad, but not too bad the next day when I had my cute new sweater! UGH its such an addiction, but so much a part of my life I cant deal! I need to budget or something instead, cold turkey was just too hard!

  8. Hi Hayley, My first visit here, and I'm a new follower, and I don't follow simply on a whim.

    Soy lattes - check, romantical chicken nachos - double check, beach - check, dog - check, cottage - check. I'm not sure about the pale ale - I love Guinness and when I'm faced with a 'menu' at a local micro brewery, I always have to ask my hubby what I would like; I'm kind of a dork that way.

    All the above, and today's post have got me hooked. I love your easy, beachy vibe today. You wear the maxi well! Not something that I could pull off, but that button down and necklace, {Swoon}

    Visiting via Casual Friday,

    1. Aww thank you so much! I love hearing that. I say just try every beer (like samples) until you find a few you like! I stick to pale ales and pilsners... works out for me! I love getting the beer flights, then if I dont like it the boy will ALWAYS happily finish it off for me!
