Feeling Blue

Sweater- Forever 21
Jeans- LC Lauren Conrad
Sandals- Issac Mizrahi
Necklace- Forever 21
Watch- Fossil

This outfit is nothing to write home about but it is all that I got. And you know i'm not feeling well when there is a messy ponytail. I actually really like this sweater, it has a pretty pattern to it and it is pretty light weight. I kinda feel like the lost member of the blue man group. Oh, and there is a little close up on the watch... Aint it purdy?

I know everyone has been enjoying the sun, beaches, and bbq's with friends and family this 3 day weekend... I have been enjoying naps, lots of tv watching, nose blowing and hot mint tea. I do not know what brought on this cold, but this cold fought and won. I can't remember being this sick and run down for a long time. I barely worked last week, and ever since my visit to the doctor, my medicine has been making it hard to keep my eyes open. And on a three day holiday weekend? Boo to that!

I think I am going to make up for this awful weekend with a potential overnight trip to San Diego next month, so we can  enjoy some time out and about. Hope you are all having a great weekend! Tell me what you did, I will live vicariously through all of you!

Feeling like an Animal

Top- H&M
Pants- H&M
Sandals- Issac Mizrahi for Target
Watch- Fossil
Belt- Forever 21
Sunglasses- Kate Spade

When it comes to animal print... I don't own much. But something about this easy cotton button up in white and black called to me and I had to leave the store with it. I felt instantly more dressy when I put it on. I don't know why. I kept saying I reminded myself of Samantha from Sex and the City... but a lot more covered up. And that right there on my arm is my pretty, new Fossil watch my mom got me for my birthday. Wait... you can't see it due to the blinding sun but I assure you its awesome. White silicone band with a Rose Gold finish. Wooo! I loves it.
This was the last outfit I wore before I came down with the plague. Since this weekend I have been wearing various combos of sweatshirt/oversized tee/ yoga pants. Sexy. My cough sounds like it should be coming from an 80 year old chain smoker and apparently my dog likes to steal and eat used kleenex. This week has been rough. I am not sure my diet should only consist of Smart water , cough drops, and Ritz crackers... but I figure the only plus side of this cold is I am getting bikini ready. Haha, kidding.

Oh. And I bet you are like... "Hey, that blue wall looks familiar!" or "Hey, what a great blue wall you have there.." Well ladies and gents, outfit photos happen where you least expect it...
Thats right. Ikea! Momma needed a new outdoor rug and some kitchen supplies and a sore throat was not gonna stop me from swedish goodness!!!

Happy Hour

Jeans- LC Lauren Conrad
Top- H&M
Necklace- Forever 21
Sandals- Issac Mizrahi

There is nothing quite like twirling around in an empty RV lot on the side of a busy street, while your boyfriend takes photos of you. It is half awesome and half totally embarrassing. Especially in something this bright. I am obsessed with this color palette right now. Bright orange and light pink... be still my heart! H&M is really, really, stepping it up this year in their fun, summery pieces. I did some damage at my local store last week. This shirt is really sheer so I had to add an undershirt, but I think it could be really cute under a blazer. I had to twirl around especially quick this night because we had a happy hour to attend to. $3 drinks and half of appetizers? All the chips and salsa my belly could hold? Call me a happy gal!

Links I'm Loving!

I thought this would be a fun new feature to do weekly or bi-weekly with links to all the lovely things I am loving around the internet. What do you think? Have any great links to share?

I would love to win this photo shoot and have a nice family photo with the boy and pup!

Antique Seashells

Dress- Forever 21
Sweater- Forever 21
Wedges- American Eagle

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago when it was hot. Really hot. Like it was nearly 90 degrees at 7:30 at night when we took these photos. I was never going to post them because they came out so dark. (I need to remember to bribe the boyfriend with dinner to make sure he is home earlier from work when there is still ample daylight!) So to correct the problem I ran a filter called 'Antique' over these which helped lighten the photos, and give me a really nice looking tan. The dress is really black, purple, cream and red. And my skin is really actually white. I don't want to deceive you guys. I like this dress because it is so simple, it almost feels like I am wearing an apron. It ties in a big bow in the back and has two big pockets in the front... just like an apron! I am not really sure how to accessorize it since the print is really bold, but it was so hot I don't think I wanted to wear anything else then what I already was! Maybe next time just a fedora, sunglasses, and a nice, big, cold beverage!

From the Floor

Shirt- H&M
Jeans- LC Lauren Conrad
Sandals- Issac Mizrahi for Target
Sunglasses- LC Lauren Conrad
Bag- Old Navy

Okay, I am going to admit it. Sometimes, when I put on an outfit I give it little or no thought. This is one of those. I know, I know... Why blog it then right? Well I am keeping it real, people!
According to the title of this post, this is exactly where I found all of the elements of this outfit. On. The. Floor. I can't help it. Sunday is laundry day and sometimes clothes just don't make it back to the closet. It is just more comfortable to throw on the jeans that are draped over the back of a chair, a comfy button up, no frill sandals and head out.
The boy cooked me a nice homemade breakfast of bacon and eggs and I had a pup that wanted to go for a walk. How could you say no to that sweet, fluffy face? No ball gown necessary for days like these, just good old fashioned family time.  How did you all spend your weekend?

Easy and Affordable Italian

By now you should all know that my favorite place to buy groceries is at Fresh & Easy. I almost always have a $10 off of $50 coupon, the store is small and quaint, and they really make it easy to eat healthy and on a budget. Cheese Tortellini with Chicken Apple Sausage is one of our favorite meals to make and I wanted to share it with you how easy and affordable it is.
I like to use the Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Pasta Sauce ($1.99) it is organic, has an extra kick and one jar lasts us about 2.5 uses. I also like to add a little bit more flavor to our sauce so sometimes I might mix it with an Alfredo to make a pink sauce or this time, I added a tablespoon of Sun Dried Tomato Pesto ($2.99) to the sauce, but this is also good put on bread to make a super easy Bruschetta.
I don't like sausage or many pork products (except bacon!) so I buy the Aidells Chicken Apple Sausage ($4.99). For two people I dice 2 of the sausage links and heat them in a skillet over medium heat until the start to have a nice golden color. I like adding this unexpectedly to Italian food because the apple adds a nice sweetness.

Now during this time I boil and cook the Cheese Tortellini that you buy in packages in the fresh food department. I forgot to photograph it. It is $2.99 (or 2 for $5) and I usually also pick up the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli for another dinner made almost exactly the same way.
I got a small French Roll in the 'Reduced to Clear' section that cost me a whopping $.71. I sliced it in small rounds, added butter and a bit of Gilroy Farms Garlic Spread (around $2, I have had it forever forgot how much it cost!) and baked that in the oven for about 5 minutes.
After you drain the pasta, I return it all back to the pot on low heat and add in all of my ingredients with a nice dose of Mozzarella on the top and just wait until the sauce is mixed in and heated up. I was going to add a small side salad of greens with Italian dressing but my lettuce was pinkish, so we just had a carb-filled dinner. Imagine a nice green next to that pasta!
And Viola! You have a delicious and easy Italian dinner for 2. All in all this dinner cost me $9.88 excluding the butter, garlic spread and mozzarella I already had. The packages of Salad are around $1.99 so honestly, this dinner is affordable and healthy!! I would just double the whole recipe for 4-6 people. Hope this gives you guys some ideas for dinner tonight!

Orange Pop

Blouse- LC Lauren Conrad
Jeans- LC Lauren Conrad
Boots- Forever 21
Bag- Old Navy
Necklaces- Commissioned, Edor Jewelry

This outfit was meant to be a 'casual date night' outfit meant for eating burgers and walking to bars. I think it came together quite well, and this super cheap (like 40% off the clearance price) bag added just the right amount of color to make me feel a little bit fancier. I pretty much wore my grey peacoat over this the whole time. Casual, comfortable, but put together. I really love this blouse and realized I have owned it for over a year and it still had the tags on... oh the woes of being a shopaholic!! But fear not, it has been added into the rotation... meaning it probably wont make it back on its hanger for a few months but just live on the dresser top!

I also want to let everyone know I updated the Sponsor page. Just in time too because I am now accepting sponsors for the month of June.  There are now three different sizes of ads, and all three got bigger! Wowza! Anyways, as always, ads are very, very affordable and I would love to host anyone who is interested! Please check out the page here or email me here if you have any questions!

Summer Products I Love

One of my favorite things to see bloggers do is post about what makeup they use or what they are loving lately. I have posted my entire makeup routine here and have done posts about my favorite items at the time, but as the seasons change so do my current routine so I decided to show you what I cant live without, for now!

1. Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Moisturizer- I start to use this product when the weather gets a bit warmer. The foaming aspect makes nearly impossible to make 'streaky' and the change in color is so subtle you never feel like you are orange. The other benefits are that it doesn't have that fake smell too it and it isn't as sticky as other brands.

2. E.L.F Minty Lip Gloss- I know these are basically $2 but the colors are nice, not too sticky, they last all day and they are cheap! I buy them by the handful and leave them everywhere and don't mind using them all the time because they are so affordable to replace. They also work great layered on top of lipstick.

3. Benefit 10 Bronzer and Blush Duo- I love this so much I only pull it out in the summer months. The bronze is so nice on my skin and the pink gives it a nice glow. I really love that it doesn't look glittery, which is a problem with other bronzers I have tried. And, it lasts for quite a long time. A little goes a long way.

4. OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection- I am waiting to get my hands on my set, but I noticed these last week in store and I love almost every color. They are very matte in their finish and really have depth of color. I love the Champagne colored one and the greens in this set. Also comes with the shatter polish so you can mix it up!

5. Mocha Rose Rosebud Salve- So my friend took this out in the car to apply it and I nearly bit it out of her hand. Literally, I wanted to eat it. It made my whole car smell like a delicious cafe making coffee and baking brownies. I love the rosebud salve and now this is on my radar. It smells divine. Trust me and buy it.

6. E.O.S Lavender Jasmine Shave Cream- I pretty much hat shaving my legs but it is a necessity. This is ultra moisturizing and has the most pleasant clean smell. Not to mention, the price is affordable and one bottle lasts for quite some time.

7. MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow- My first little "gift with purchase" from MAC had this color in it years ago and I have always, always, gone back to it and kept it in my palette. I love using it as a highlight color over a basic light brown or nearly nude eye. It just has the prettiest gold flecks and the bronze is universally flattering. One of my favorite colors by far.

8. St. Ives Green Tea Exfoliator- I always loved the apricot scrub but thought it was maybe a little rough and almost made my face more red then should be. I switched up to this recently and it is a lot softer on the skin. It has a great natural smell and also works great as a mask, lathered up well and left of for 20 min. It really makes the skin soft. And the best thing is they sell it in the travel size as well so you never have to be without!

Peek at my Weekend

I love to do my weekend recaps via the photos I take and post on Instagram throughout the week!! If you don't know what Instagram is, it basically is like a photo stream of your photos. You can see your friends photos on your feed and it is very interactive and fun. They also have a ton of cool effects for your photos which is what I like to use to make them look a little more unique.
I picked up this ooh so soft striped robe since I have never, ever had one! I thought it would be a more cozy and fun way to lounge around my house in the early mornings and let me tell you... it is! And the boy approves, it gets extra me snuggle time whenever I am wearing it.
I let this little guy have more run of the house lately and his new favorite thing to do is to lay on the cool tile floor by my feet while I do my makeup in the morning. I just think he is the sweetest boy in the whole world. I cant get enough photos in the world of this sweet face!
I read on a blog about these ThinkThin bars that are supposedly pretty tasty with no sugar in them and tons of protein. They are gluten free, full of vitamins, and are meant to be eaten when you are on the go. I bought a few flavors to try out. They were only $1.15 at Fresh & Easy which wasn't too bad considering it has taken me 2 days to eat the Brownie Crunch flavor. It reminds me of a healthy brownies with those little rice kernels in it. Very filling and tasty, perfect to keep in your purse!
Oh, well then of course I am eating healthy then all I can think of is bad food! I was craving ice cream, but I am lactose intolerant and it just doesn't sit well, so I picked up some rainbow sprinkles, So Delicious soy ice cream, and Magic Shell and we had an impromptu dessert party on Saturday night. Remember Magic Shell? It is so fun to let it get hard and then crack it into bits! I saw it at the store and had to have it. Cuddles, HGTV, and bowls of ice cream... totally tame for a Saturday but I loved it!
My birthday treat to myself was a pedicure. I never, ever, get those done. Literally, I think the last time was like prom! I just don't like to spend money on something I can do myself, but you know what... my nails were so shiny and pretty and my little feet were silky smooth... I can see why people to this all of the time!

Easy Breezy

Sweatshirt- Forever 21
Jeans- Mossimo
Wedges- American Eagle
Sunglasses- LC Lauren Conrad
Watch- Burberry
Necklace- Forever 21

So this is what I wore to Costco. Fancy, right? And going to Costco is basically all we did before I had to head off to work. Sundays are lazy, what can I say? I love going there but I can only justify buying household products and beverages there. So we usually stock up on soy milk, water, beer and bread. Because I can basically turn any meal into a sandwich so we eat bread a lot. Lasagana sandwich? Oooh, sounds good.

Did you notice it was windy? Like super windy? Out of like 100 photos, about 85 of them I was trying to peel my wild hair off of my lipgloss. Yea, tough life of a style blogger. I do it for you guys though. I wasn't even going to post this, since I really just threw on a sweatshirt and jeans for like a two hour time span, but I am keeping it real. And I really don't wash my hair on Sundays and I really hate the light wash on those jeans, but they were clean (enough) for Costco.

Almost Thirty

Okay I'm not almost 30... but I am definitely closer to 30 then 20. Feels weird to really say that! Anyways I had a pretty low key birthday on Wednesday. Got my toesies did, drank some coffee, had a nap, watched Oprah, had some pizza and a pizookie and hit up Target. Pretty much like any other day except there were presents involved. Have I mentioned I love presents? Well, I do.
Like this totally awesome beach cruiser I found in the living room!!!!!!!!! EEEK! I am excited. We don't technically live by the beach yet, and the boy didn't even get himself a bike... but I can ride all around our little neighborhood to my hearts content. But for now I just like looking at it propped up in the living room in its cute, minty green glory! I need a basket, stat!
Oh and this beauty has been on my radar for months. Finally, the stars aligned and I found it at Anthropologie for $9.95 and with my birthday discount... it had to come home with me! Hmm... that navy and green striped blouse also came home with me... and I only spent $35! I love my birthday discount!!
My new ring. Spent less then $2 on it and it makes me laugh every time.  Hope you all had a good week too. I work all weekend and I am hoping I find time to tackle my Spring closet clean out/organization I have been meaning to do. A blog sale is on its way, folks!

BTW... if you missed it, (thanks blogger) I am going to re-do my FAQ section and would love for you guys to leave some comments with questions you think it would be fun to answer, or questions you have  been wanting to ask and I will answering them in an upcoming post. Nothing off limits... ask and I will answer!

Empty Roads and Questions

Dress- Forever 21
Jacket- AC
Boots- Forever 21
Sunglasses- Kate Spade
Necklace- Edor Jewelry

This is one of those outfits I thought looked way better on my body then turned out in photos. I noticed there was some serious wrinkles happening in the southern part of my skirt. I either need to find our iron... or figure out how to turn this dress into a blouse. Because really, what sold me in the first place were the pretty little ruffles on the top. Small floral print + ruffles = happy! And can you believe our luck that I stood in the middle of this street for nearly 20 minutes and a car never came by? Luck, I tell ya.

I have decided, since this blog has been around for almost 9 months (my little baby!), I would like to re-do the FAQ page. It is really basic, and at the time I only had like 40 followers and now that things are expanding and more and more people are stopping by to say hi, I would like to update it with some information you guys would like to know. So how about in the comment section below add any questions you would like me to answer or think would be good to add to that section or you can e-mail me if it is something more personal, or even send it via twitter. I think it will be fun and I would love to know what you guys are wondering about me! Nothing off limits... so ask away!

This was originally posted on Thursday the 12th. Blogger ate it, deleted the comments, and prevented some of you from leaving your questions so lets go ahead and try it again! Please repost your questions, you had some good ones I would love to answer!!!

It's my Birthday!!!

I don't usually make a big deal out of my birthday but I think that is why I feel like this one is actually a big one. If that makes any sense. Usually I am disappointed and bummed I don't have a surprise party to attend, or someone going crazy trying to make my day wonderful. But this year, I am just very content and happy to have a dinner with my closest friend, my boy, and my family. I think this means I am finally getting older and growing up. But... I am still totally excited for a pizookie and birthday presents! Because lets face it... presents are the best! I want to thank you guys for the last awesome eight months and thank you so, so, much for following my life and all of the kind words you guys send me! It really does mean a ton! Smoooooch!

Oh yeah, and Lewis got all cleaned up and pretty smelling for me this past weekend... doesn't he look dapper? I love him!

Oh yeah! And yesterday I guest posted on Kendra's blog. It is a little post about how the boy and I met. Head on over and check it out!

Pretty in Pink

Jacket- Nordstrom
Dress- Forever21
Leggings- Forever 21
Sandals- Issac Mizrahi
Necklace- Urban Outfitters
Bracelet- H&M

This is what I wore for Mothers Day... Floral! I remembered it was the next Everybody, Everywear challenge and I knew today was going to be full of black polos at work so I planned ahead. Go me! I wore this out to dinner at Wood Ranch. Have you been to Wood Ranch? Well, if you haven't... they say "Hello, Welcome..." and deliver these hot, soft rolls covered in butter right under your nose. Then you over eat. But the moral of this story is that their rolls are the best and they do not hesitate. I love that. It is also by an Anthropologie and I happened to have a Birthday 15% off coupon (its tomorrow!) in my back pocket so I managed to pick up a cute top and a necklace I have been eyeing for weeks. In the morning we managed to cook a brunch for my mom at her house that turned out sooo good. I am still full two days later from the rolls... and the pancakes. Good Mothers Day, indeed!

American Woman

All items from Forever 21 and Top Shop.

It seems like Spring walked out the door last week and Summer came sliding in right behind it. With temperatures up in the 100's already I have started to think about what my transitional wardrobe is going to look like for the beginning of summer. Right now I am gravitating to light and airy pieces, with really breezy textures and muted colors. When making this board I noticed the colors I were gravitating to were not loud yellows and bright blues (though I am sure those will come later) but whites, pinks, blues and khakis which screamed one thing to me... american classics.

- A subtle 70's printed blouse and sailor inspired shorts.
 - Loose fitting khaki pants with great details.
- An easy denim romper would be great to wear to the park.
- T-shirts with a funky prints like this tie-die one.
- A small blue cross body bag to hold essentials for long days out.
- Sweet and light floral prints.
- Belts with detail to punch up a basic white dress or cinch a blazer atop an outfit.
- Nude wedges to go with anything, anytime.
- Soft rubber Ray-bans in a girly color.
- A menswear inspired oxford to pair with shorts or boyfriend jeans.

Which of these items are your favorite? What do you love to wear when those temperatures start rising?

Anatomy of a Beach Getaway

When we went on our road trip a few weekends ago, we stayed at Hotel Oceana in Santa Barbara. Originally, we didn't plan on staying there, but then I changed my mind and wanted to be by the beach so we found this online and booked it. Everything about our stay from start to finish was lovely. If anything I would give them a 99% recommendation only docking a point because the walls are pretty thin and with the pools being in the center of the complex it can get noisy. But really, you shouldn't be in your room in the daytime anyways!
The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous, in was an old two story motel like complex that had been completely renovated right across the street from the beach and pier. The attention to detail and cute pops of color and decoration made me giddy. And did I mention the huge succulents everywhere I looked? Gorgeous!
Inside the rooms were wood floors. Hard. Wood. Floors. Swoon! I hate hotel carpet and this just made the whole room seem so light and airy. The bathrooms were small, but clean and simple, really all you need. They provided Aveda products (my favorite Rosemary Mint shampoo-- and that stuff is not cheap!). The colors and decor were bright and poppy, the bed was totally comfortable, and did I mention they had completely free WiFi? That is a total gripe of mine when they want another $10 a day for internet... I am addicted! I need it for free!! Also they had a small bowl of treats and small wines and drinks in the fridge. I know it is basically a mini-bar, but they way they had it set up was so cute!
L to R: Photo of me in the mirror in the bathroom... notice those floors!, The desk area and a cute book about Santa Barbara Sunsets, My travel bag and those yummy travel size treats, Our clothes neatly arranged in the closet, The boy and I.
This was our view from the room. We requested an ocean view and I would recommend to stay on the second floor just due to that pool/kid/noise issue. Plus they have little patio areas where you can go drink some wine and overlook the beach. I also had a whole other outfit I forgot to take photos of but you can see it there from the little patio. Now the rugs, if you follow my Instagram I posted photos everyday of these. They lined the hallways and were unbelievably cheery. I really wanted to pull one up and stuff it in our trunk. If anyone knows where to get something like this... I need to know!!!!
So not only did we get all of this.. but there was on-site parking, free breakfast that had a lot to choose from, and complimentary beach cruisers to take out and explore. I am not going to lie, that is why we booked the place. It was so nice to go ride around early in the morning!!! I had to take it through an empty parking lot at first because it had been awhile since I got on a bike, but it was so fun. I only fell in the sand once.

I want to note that I did not get paid to stay there, asked to write a review, or anything of that nature. We found, paid, and booked this hotel on our own and I am 100% unbiasedly sharing my opinion on the property!

Awkward and Awesome Jueves!

Awkward-
- The new Mocha Coconut Frappuccino at Starbucks. When you say it fast, and 1000 times a day it starts to come out really weird... I have sold many "Moco Cocoa" Frappuccinos. Whoops!

- Being in a bathroom with someone who is on the phone. And they are too busy talking to realize you are there. And did I mention the conversation was really a private one? Awkward!

- That show 'The Voice'. I don't get the whole turning around thing. And if it was filmed all in one day? Because if not, Christina wears that black dress a lot.

- My white legs. I think they are even immune to the tanner in the bottle.

- Customers paying in 2 dollar bills. Where did you get this? And why do I get stuck with it?

- Having to tell people I am "Almost 30." Ouch. Where has the time gone since I was 20? It seems like not too long ago...

- Broadcasters confusing 'Obama' and 'Osama"... yeah...

- Attempting to speak spanish all day. I will let you know if it moves into the awesome catagory, but I doubt it will.

Awesome-

- Making these lists. Because then I really don't have to think in complete sentences.

- All of the tacos and mexican food I plan on eating tonight! Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

- My parents going on vacation and having a fridge full of food! No grocery shopping this week!

- The weather lately. No complaints here!

- Mothers Day this weekend! I am cooking a big breakfast and I have all of Sunday off. Maybe our first trip to the dog beach?

- My birthday coming up next week. I really do love cake and presents, I don't care how old I am... I want funfetti cake.

- Our shoes up there in that photo. I might want to color correct it and frame it. It is so... us.

Eight Months

This little guy is about to be eight months old and I feel like a proud parent. It is crazy how time flies. It seems like just yesterday he barely fit in my hands and now he is 15lbs. of crazy, silly dog!
Lewis just has the best personality, and now that it is warming up he loves to go over to my parents backyard, which is very puppy friendly, and play for hours. Word of advice: skip all the expensive and cute toys at the pet store and just buy tennis balls. He loves those things more then any toy he has.
I think it is safe to say that we are out of the potty training stage. We haven't had any accidents in the house for quite some time, and he is really starting to get all of the commands and routines we have been teaching him. The best is that he can high five. No joke. It is awesome!
He loves to steal our stinky socks. That is one thing he just cant help himself on. Last weekend, Geoff picked up a six pack of socks and left them in a chair and when Lewis found them... it was like Christmas! He tried to shove the whole package in his mouth and go run and hide.
Basically, when we come home to this sleepy guy at night we are thrilled he is our dog. Lewis really makes Geoff and I feel like a family, and I love my little family so much! I mean, how can you resist this puppy passed out on the floor!!?
